Starbucks, Race and Basketball

Sherman Alexie is one of the greatest writers in the United States, in fact, he's possibly the 78th greatest writer in the United States. Luke Ridnour, according to ESPN, is the 78th greatest player in the NBA.

This article by Alexie is one of the five best articles I have read in the last year.

If you are a fan of sports, you will love this. If you aren't, you will learn something: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Content?oid=101518

The background:
Seattle might be losing it's NBA team after 40 years in the city. Howard Shultz is the number one coffee maker in the world and he recently sold the team.

The Sonics have lost their last four games by 4, 6, 3, and 1 respectively.

So far this season I have to disagree with Sherman about Ridnour. I'd say he's been the most consistent of anyone on the team. I'd say he's hurt us in the past not because he isn't good but rather, not aggressive enough offensively.

Luke plays passing lanes well (despite his size) and is starting to ball hawk and get his hands on balls adeptly. Luke is also starting to take one on one defenders to the whole ala payton. He doesn't finish as well but he dishes at the cup better.

those are my thoughts on the oklahoma city sonics. I will watch and root for them until they the day they are gone. and then I will burn every starbucks to the ground while the employees are inside. Why, because those employees are just Satan's little helpers and like Robert Townsend says (when it comes to selling out) "hey, there's work at the post office".
